GR Redford 1st January 2014

At the meeting held on the 12th December 2013, Rushcliffe Borough Council approved modifications to the Core Strategy (Local Plan).

The modified plan proposes

  • The development of 2,500 homes, employment, retail and community facilities on land east of Gamston/Tollerton.
  • 500 homes added to the proposed development adjacent to the A453 at Clifton/Barton making a total of 3,000 homes.
  • An increase of 300 houses at Edwalton new Sharphill Wood, increasing the number houses on this development to 1,500.

In total the modified plan makes provision for 13,150 new homes by 2028. The majority of the increase being Rushcliffe's share of the approximately 50,000 that are required to meet the housing needs of the Greater Nottingham area over the period.

The Core Strategy will be sent to the Planning Inspector who can resume the examination whilst the council formally undertakes consultations on the plan.

The Planning Inspector will announce dates of the public hearing once the policy and supporting evidence has been considered.
