A46 Roadworks
Highways Agency 3rd January 2017

NOTIFICATION OF WORK TO MAINTAIN THE A46 SAFETY BARRIER SYSTEM &

DRAINAGE DITCH, BETWEEN THE A606 MELTON ROAD AND THE B676 SIX

HILLS LANE

We are writing to inform you that we are carrying out essential work to maintain the

existing safety barrier and drainage system on the above section of the A46, from 16th

January.

The work is necessary because the existing safety barrier has reached the end of its

serviceable life. While we are doing this, and to minimise further disruption to local road

users, we'll also be taking the opportunity to re-profile the existing highway ditch

adjacent the northbound carriageway. These works will be undertaken ovemight and

during the weekend, under lane closures to minimise inconvenience and disruption.

There will however, be occasional ovemight closures of the northbound and southbound

carriageway to ensure the safety of our workforce. Clearly signed diversion routes will be

in place during these closures.

The work is planned to start on Monday 16th January 2017 at 8pm and finish on

Saturday 015t April 2017 at 6am. Throughout this time, the carriageways will be open

as usual during the daytime, however, there will be a temporary 40mph speed restriction

24 hours a day. The latter is necessary in order to protect the traveling public as while

construction work is ongoing there will be sections of safety barrier in the central reserve

incomplete or un-tensioned.

Please note that all planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions

or unforeseen circumstances. We will do our very best to complete the work as quickly

as possible, keeping disturbances and noise to a minimum.
