Footpath News
Gregg Redford 18th June 2019

After representations the Local Highways Authority have accepted that they are responsible for the maintenance of the segment of footpath (Whatton FP1 - Blackberry Hill) between the footbridge over the Whipling and the start of the arable land.

Via East Midlands Limited (the contractor for the LHA) have confirmed it will be included on their maintenance schedule in the future. The contractor is now on site (Tuesday 18th June 2019) making the 'first cut'. The land owner / occupier has also been asked to reinstate the footpath through the crops over Blackberry Hill.

On a less postive note, a tree has falled, blocking the route on Whatton BW 2 (Orston Lane). The incident has been reported to the Rights of Way team at Via and a response is awaited.
